HHUC Curling Event Report at King Curling Club

On February 8, 2020, twenty-six members and friends of the Club enjoyed another curling evening and social at the KCC.The event started with the usual orientation and safety reminders and then the gang dove onto the ice. Many Club members have taken part several times before (this is the 10th year for HHUC Curling), and they only needed a quick review before getting into games. About another dozen participants needed more instruction and practice before joining in with the competitions. Everyone learned very quickly including young Emma Gibson who exclaimed “curling is my new favourite sport”.The games were lively with some amazing shot-making by people who curl no more than once a year. Afterward, the curlers adjourned to the curling lounge for pot luck snacks and beverages.

Many in the gathering wanted to have another curling evening before the season ended. Those plans were dashed by the facility closure due to the pandemic.
