Fitness Sundays

Winter 2024: January 14th – June 8th Sundays 5-6:15pm

Fall 2024: TBD (Usually starts 2nd or 3rd Sunday in September)

Sunday evenings at Hart House pool, 5:00-6:00 pm

Love to swim and want to stay underwater longer? Enhance your physical fitness and enjoy the freedom of experiencing the underwater world with only a mask, fins and snorkel. Perfect for anyone looking to build comfort and endurance through personalized coaching and structured training. This program will improve and maintain your fitness for scuba, skin diving, freediving and in general.

Who can attend: Fitness Sundays is open to HHUC Underwater Club Members and Learn to SCUBA Dive Course participants.

Fitness Sundays runs every Sunday evening in the Hart House Pool. Please arrive 10 minutes early to get changed and organized in order to start in the pool on time.

You do not need to be a certified diver to take part (new HHUC scuba trainees are welcome). Bring your mask, fins and snorkel, and a bathing suit and towel. We will be exercising and get warm, so neoprene is not really necessary unless you get cold really easily.

Free Tryout:

If you are not an Underwater Club Member (or enrolled in the Learn to SCUBA Dive course) and wish to come as a guest to try things out. Please  contact Martin and let him know you wish to come (a week in advance please).

Mailing List: The Fitness Sunday mailing list is used to send a weekly reminder email about Fitness Sundays. Occasionally there is information about other HHUC related training activities (e.g. Underwater Hockey). It will also be used to notify you of unplanned cancellations or pool closures. Therefore, we recommend that you join the mailing list to avoid disappointment, and to get all the news. 

If you wish to be added or removed from the mailing list for Fitness Sundays, please email Martin  and tell me the email you wish to “ADD” or “REMOVE”. 

When: Sunday evenings, 5:00-6:00 pm. Come 10 minutes early to get changed and organized so you will be on the pool deck, ready to start on time. 

What to bring: Bring your mask, fins and snorkel, a lock for your locker, a bathing suit and a towel. If you are new and don’t have gear yet, let me know. We have a small amount gear available that you can borrow for the night.

The entrance to the pool area and change room is in the basement on the west side. Ask for directions at the Hart House Hub if you cant find it. The pool entrance is at the back of the change room through the showers. 

If you are new, ask at the Hart House Hub desk and tell them you are from “Hart House Underwater Club” and are participating in HHUC Fitness Sunday. 

Training Video Policy: 
Please be aware that as part of the regular Fitness Sundays there can be an underwater video camera set up to allow people to be filmed for the purpose of reviewing  their finning technique, trim and other underwater techniques. The video from this camera will be made available on a google drive (or similar filesharing site) with access Iimited to Fitness Sundays participants. These videos are strictly for training review, and are not to be used for any other purpose. 

By attending you agree to: 
1) Allow the above sharing of any video or images in which you appear with other Fitness Sundays participants. 
2) If you have been given access to the video fileshare you agree not to use the videos for any purposes other than reviewing your own technique, and 
3) You agree not to share (in person or online) or display the video to anyone outside of the Fitness Sundays training group without written permission from the Fitness Sunday Instructor, and the persons appearing in the video.
